2006 Strike Gold For Kids Big Success
Bob Missildine Big $5,000 Winner

We did it. The 2006 Strike Gold for Kids was better than ever. Attributed to the change in venue and caterers, this years event was a great evening and some of our Kiwanis members went home with heavy pockets as well.

After nearly forcing Bob Missildine to purchase at least one ticket, the Oldewage/Ressler team made the sale and wouldn’t you know it, his single purchas of ticket #150 is all it took to take home first prize and $5,000 cash money.

A couple of Kiwanis widows were successful as well. Mary Uyesugi of AA Jewelry Box Store in Tustin was the luck winner of Prize #2 with a cash prize of $2,500.00. Martha Ann Brooks won third prize of $1,000 for her lucky ticket. Both of their husbands are greatly missed by our club but we are sure Mass and Walt had a big smile on their face when the winners were announced.

The final big winner was our own Tom Brown who had lost his ticket and didn’t even know he was the winner of the fourth prize of $1,000 when the ticket number was called out.

We could not comment about the evenings event without acknowledging the hard work and creative contributions by Doug and Linda Custance of Crystal Catering. Never in our eight year history of these events had the feeding of over 200 guests been so smooth. The food was outstanding including those desserts. Linda’s table center pieces were the hit of the evening with guests guarding their center pieces from raiding Kiwanians who didn’t win their own tables piece.

Missildine Declared Kiwanis “Hero”

Members of the club continue to mumble in shock that our own Strike Gold for Kids winner, Bob Missildine, stunned the membership when he returned the entire $5,000 he won as this years Strike Gold for Kids Drawing.

President Kathi commented last week that some people are destined to become hero’s and that certainly Bob Missildine has become our own Hero for his honorable gesture. Watch for future editions of the KiwaniNews to learn more about this long term Member of our club.
